reaking 80 at Disney’s Magnolia Resort Course after playing Mystic Dunes the day before marked one of the most memorable birthday’s in my life, not only has it been conquered by some of the greatest golfers of all time, but lazily and innocently been mentioned in the past around my house.
I stumbled to a +5 score on the front nine, emblematic of the long iron shots required at the former Oldsmobile Classic.
After six holes on the premiere championship course, I was attacking fairways amid my AI Smoke Driver and placing myself in good situations on the course. A horrible green-side save on hole four was my first mis-hit on the day, and after only being 55 yards away on the par 5, I tallied a double bogey. I then fell back another stroke when my T2hundo 4’ flopped from 200 yards in the fairway. I had found the fairway for the fourth time in four holes, and took dead aim with a Vokey Design shot from 90 yards that set me up for bogey.

n the back nine, unfortunately, I hooked my first drive left into the water, then hit a low liner that hopped over a bunker. Behind commanding par 3; T2hundo iron shots, I was able to generate enchanting pars. My electrifying performances – including a greenside save chip in for birdie and a 3 wood from the fairway that entertained a birdie – highlighted how a structured strike could unlock my full potential.
Ultimately, I earned my place at Walt Disney World’s flagship course and major senior championship tournament, even with Grumpy’s Gauntlets’ difficult to hold greens and sharp doglegs.
